Using this website

The content on this site, including the blue plaque map, event listings, committee information, and planning tracker, is provided for general information about the Society and its work. We try to keep it accurate and up to date but we do not guarantee that every detail, including third-party information shown on the planning tracker, is current or error-free.

You must not misuse the site, attempt to interfere with its operation, or use it in a way that infringes the rights of others.

Products we sell

We currently sell books and leaflets available as:

  • a printed book, posted to you

  • a downloadable PDF

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.

Placing an order

When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy, which we accept once we confirm and process your payment. Payment is taken via Squarespace Payments at the time of order. We do not see or store your full card details.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order, for example if an item is unexpectedly out of stock or if there has been an error in pricing. If this happens, we will let you know and refund any payment already taken.

Delivery

Printed books are sent by Royal Mail for UK addresses. For deliveries outside the UK, we use whichever courier is appropriate to the destination. Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed. Risk in the book passes to you once it is delivered to the address you provided.

Digital downloads (the PDF) are made available to you immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible, after your payment is confirmed.

Your right to cancel

Printed books: Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, if you are a consumer you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the book, without giving a reason. To cancel, contact us using the details above. You will need to return the book at your own cost, in the condition you received it, and we will refund the price you paid, including standard delivery cost, within 14 days of receiving it back.

Digital downloads: Because the PDF is delivered electronically, your legal right to cancel ends once the download has started, provided we have made clear that this is the case and you have consented to receive it immediately. If you would like to cancel before downloading the file, contact us and we will not proceed.

Nothing in this section affects your right to a refund or replacement if an item is faulty or not as described.

Faulty or misdescribed items

If a printed book arrives damaged, faulty, or is not what you ordered, contact us and we will arrange a replacement or refund. If a digital download does not work as expected, contact us and we will help resolve it or issue a refund.

Our liability

We provide the website and its content, including the blue plaque map and planning tracker, on an "as is" basis. We are not liable for any loss you suffer from relying on information on the site, except where that loss arises from our negligence or where the law does not allow us to limit liability, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.

We are not liable for content or availability of third-party services the site links to or displays, including OpenStreetMap map tiles and the Google Sheet used for the planning tracker.

Intellectual property

The text, images, and design of this website belong to Torbay Civic Society or are used with permission, unless otherwise stated. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, but you must not otherwise copy, reproduce, or distribute content from the site without our permission.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applied at the time you placed an order is the one that governs that order. The current version is always available on this page.
